How to use these guides together
The guides above are written to be read in the order your organisation actually needs them, not all at once. A new community group in Phnom Penh usually starts with the Member Listing Guide and the Directory Search Tags guide, because a clear listing with accurate tags is what helps residents, partners and volunteers find you in the directory. Getting the basics right early saves a lot of editing later: a short, plain description of what your group does, the neighbourhood or district you serve, the languages you work in, and a contact route that someone actually checks.
Starting a chapter
If several members want to organise locally, the Chapter Charter Kit and the Volunteer Role Matrix work best side by side. The charter sets out purpose, membership and decision-making, while the role matrix makes sure tasks such as treasurer, events lead and communications are clearly assigned before activity begins. Groups that skip this step often find that one or two people end up doing everything. You can see how existing groups are organised on the chapters page.
Running the year
Once a group is active, the practical guides cover the recurring cycle of association life:
- Dues and finances – agree on how and when contributions are collected and keep simple records that the whole board can review.
- Meetings and events – use the Event Room Booking guide and the Phnom Penh Meetup Map to plan venues, allowing for travel time, traffic and the rainy season.
- Governance – the Board Election Timeline helps you give members fair notice of nominations and voting.
- Reporting – the Annual Report Structure turns a year of activity into a document that members and partners can trust.
Working with partners
The sample MOU is a starting template, not legal advice. Adapt it to your situation, write any agreement in a language both parties fully understand, and for larger commitments involving funds or property, consider asking a qualified local adviser to review it. Logo and newsletter guidance then help you present the partnership consistently once it is agreed.
If something you need is missing, the contact page is the best place to suggest a new guide.
